Capcom says its breach investigation found that information linked to 11,774,247 Capcom ID accounts was accessed, and warns that exposed email addresses could be used in phishing attempts. The scale matters because the account service is used for online play in games including Street Fighter 6.

The accessed information included email addresses and system-specific identifiers; for 43 accounts, it also included dates of birth, gender, country or region, and nicknames. Capcom has not confirmed that users’ original passwords were compromised, but passwords were changed without authorisation on 196 accounts and have since been reset. Credit card information was not affected, and Capcom has reported the breach to Japanese authorities while investigating further.
