‘Mass Effect Universe’ Leak Promised What Fans Have Waited Decades For

A leaked trailer for the cancelled game Mass Effect Universe showed a male Quarian, prompting excitement from fans who had long wanted one as a prominent character. The footage also featured Liara T'Soni and drew attention to Asari redesigns and a Krogan, giving fans a glimpse of a possible new direction for the series, though its unfinished status means the trailer cannot show what the final game would have been.

The series has so far featured Tali'Zorah as its only recruitable Quarian, while unused concepts for Mass Effect 2 included two male Quarian squadmates. Fans have speculated about the new Krogan’s significance, including whether the genophage had been cured, and welcomed Asari designs that differed from those in Mass Effect Andromeda. Some hope the planned Mass Effect television series may eventually explore ideas the cancelled game left behind.
