Yorkshire’s ‘scariest’ street – inside Halloween-mad dad’s ‘frightmare’ in seven spooky pictures
Kev Dixon, a father of three from Parson Cross in Sheffield, has transformed his garden into a Halloween attraction filled with props, special effects and costumed characters. The display is intended to entertain visitors and create an immersive, slightly frightening experience, while also collecting donations for an animal rescue charity.
This year’s features include a 12-foot scarecrow, animatronic zombies, characters from horror films, smoke machines and an inflatable walkthrough castle. Dixon’s family dress as scare actors to bring the scene to life, and the display is due to be taken down on 1 November.

Explained simply
Halloween is celebrated on 31 October, when people often dress in costumes and decorate homes with spooky themes. Some households create larger displays for visitors, using props, lighting and sound effects to make them feel like haunted attractions.
Kev Dixon lives in Parson Cross, a neighbourhood in Sheffield, and puts on a Halloween display in his garden with help from his family. The attraction combines decorations and costumed characters, and visitors can make donations to an animal rescue charity.
The display is part of a wider tradition of community Halloween events, which can bring neighbours and families together. Its scale also involves practical work, including setting up and taking down the props after the seasonal event.
