Fishlock and Coleman enter Welsh Sports Hall of Fame
Jess Fishlock and Chris Coleman have been inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame, recognising their major contributions to Welsh football. Fishlock, widely described as Wales’ greatest footballer, is nearing the end of her club career, while Coleman is honoured for leading the men’s team to the Euro 2016 semi-finals.
Fishlock, 39, won a record 166 Wales caps and scored 48 goals before retiring from international football after Euro 2025; she has two regular-season Seattle Reign games and potentially three play-off matches left. The Hall made a rare exception to its usual retirement rule to honour her, and she is due to join Wales’ coaching staff for next month’s World Cup play-offs. Coleman helped Wales rise from 117th to eighth in the world rankings, and several other former players, officials and members of the 1976 team were also inducted.
