Apple revives the original iPod as an Apple Music easter egg

The Verge ·

Apple Music has added a hidden, playable recreation of the first-generation iPod to its error page for non-existent pages. The nostalgic feature, spotted by users on social media, appears to mark the original iPod’s 25th anniversary and recalls a device that helped shape Apple’s music business.

The virtual iPod comes loaded with early-2000s tracks, including Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” and Gorillaz’s “Feel Good Inc.” It can be found by visiting a made-up page on Apple Music; Apple introduced the iPod on 23 October 2001 for $399, and discontinued the product line in 2022 after two decades.
