Online Comedians Are Making a Mint Mocking Wall Street
Online comedians are drawing growing audiences by parodying Wall Street personalities and corporate culture. Their videos turn finance industry stereotypes into recognisable characters, at a time when private equity and wealthy business figures are increasingly visible in popular culture and everyday life.
Johnny Hilbrant Partridge’s P.E. Guy persona has grown to more than 400,000 Instagram followers, from 7,000 around 18 months ago. Other creators include The Swiss Chris, with 442,000 followers, and Clemente Varas Collado, with 115,000; their rise reflects social media algorithms favouring short videos, while older image-based meme accounts have struggled to grow.
