Call of Duty movie will explore the “cost of war”, says director

Eurogamer ·

Director Peter Berg says the Call of Duty film will examine the human cost of war and the burden carried by people who put themselves in danger to protect others. He described its characters as complicated people with emotional depth, suggesting the film aims to give the military action a serious dramatic purpose.

The film is based on the Modern Warfare games and is being written by Taylor Sheridan. Berg said it would probably be less graphically violent than his forthcoming Netflix film The Mosquito Bowl, a Second World War drama inspired by a 1944 Marines’ football match, due on 25 November. The Call of Duty film is scheduled to reach cinemas on 30 June 2028.
