The Flaming Lips have announced *The Teardrop Throbs*, their first new album in seven years, due on 22 January. It is their debut for Third Man Records and marks a change in the band’s line-up, as multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd is no longer a member.

The 13-track album includes the single “God Will Control the Werewolves” and “Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell Part Two”, a follow-up to a song from *Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots*. The band co-produced the record with Taylor Johnson, Dave Fridmann and Scott Booker, with additional production by Jon and Mike Fridmann. They plan intimate shows in Nashville, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and London after its release.
