3 Upcoming Sci-Fi RPGs Better Than Waiting for a New Mass Effect
The article points readers towards three upcoming science-fiction role-playing games as alternatives while the next Mass Effect remains unavailable after its reported cancellation. Exodus and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn appear closest to the series’ squad-based action and companion-focused storytelling, while a third project from a director behind Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic offers another possibility for those willing to wait.
Exodus features cover-based combat, two controllable squadmates, affinity-building dialogue and a player-owned ship; its story follows Jun Aslan as he confronts a technological virus and a brother who seized control of their planet. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, which Polygon previewed for 90 minutes, pairs squad combat with stealth, exploration and problem-solving on Ganymede, and includes a custom character and their twin. The supplied article text cuts off before naming or describing the third game.
In short
- Exodus and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn offer Mass Effect-style squad adventures.
