Ashley Paul Griffith faces 202 further child abuse charges in NSW

Daily Mail ·

Ashley Paul Griffith has been extradited from Queensland to New South Wales to face 202 additional child sexual offence charges. The transfer brings him before NSW authorities over alleged abuse at a Sydney childcare centre, while he is already serving a life sentence for offences against children in Queensland.

Griffith, 48, pleaded guilty in 2024 to more than 300 offences involving nearly 70 victims and received a 27-year non-parole period. The NSW charges relate to 23 girls, allegedly as young as ten, and offences said to have occurred between 2014 and 2017. He was transferred by road and handed over to authorities at Tweed Heads.

In short

  • Griffith was extradited to NSW.
  • He faces 202 further charges.
  • The allegations concern 23 girls in Sydney.

Explained simply

Ashley Paul Griffith is a former childcare worker who worked in Queensland and New South Wales. In 2024, he admitted to more than 300 offences against nearly 70 children in Queensland and was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum of 27 years before he can seek release.

The NSW allegations concern 23 girls and are said to relate to a Sydney childcare centre between 2014 and 2017. They are separate from the Queensland offences, so the NSW case will examine allegations under that state’s law.
