Minecraft Has Been Updated To Ver. 26.60 On Switch 2, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Nintendo Life ·

Minecraft’s Switch 2 version has received update 26.60, released on 27 October 2026, shortly after the game launched on the console. It adds experimental features centred on icy environments and includes fixes aimed at improving performance, including better split-screen play on Switch 2.

The experimental additions include Ice Caves beneath colder Overworld biomes, with Ice Crystals that emit light and Icicles that can fall and cause damage. A new Frostbite zombie can attack at close range with freezing effects or throw ice balls, while the Freezing effect can reduce jump height and eventually cause damage; leather armour helps protect against freezing. The published notes also cover many other fixes and technical changes.

In short

  • Minecraft 26.60 is out on Switch 2.
  • Ice Caves and freezing gameplay arrive as experimental features.
  • The update also improves Switch 2 split-screen performance.

Explained simply

Minecraft is a game in which players explore, build and survive in a world made of blocks. The Overworld is its main environment, with different biomes such as forests, deserts and snowy regions; some areas contain caves beneath the surface.

The game is made by Mojang Studios and published by Microsoft, and it is available on several platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2. Updates can add features or change how the game runs, while experimental features are still being tested and may change before wider release.

Icy areas can affect how players move and survive, so freezing hazards, protective clothing and hostile creatures are relevant to play. Performance changes also matter because they can affect how smoothly the game runs, including when two or more people play together on one screen.
