‘Lord of the Rings,’ ‘Spider-Man’ Digital-Human Pioneer Remington Scott to Head Eros Imagination (EXCLUSIVE)
Eros Innovation has appointed visual effects pioneer Remington Scott to lead Eros Imagination, a new business combining film production, visual effects, AI and interactive experiences. The unit aims to serve Eros projects and secure work with outside entertainment companies, while helping stories and performers reach audiences across films, games and live events.
The unit’s first announced project will draw on an agreement with Mohammed Rafi’s family to create an immersive music experience, subject to rights and creative approvals. Eros says its in-house AI models were built using about 1.5 trillion rights-cleared cultural tokens, and that artists will retain creative control. Scott has more than 30 years’ experience, including work on Gollum in “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” and digital humans for “Spider-Man 2”.
In short
- Remington Scott will lead Eros Imagination.
- Its first project will feature Mohammed Rafi’s music.
- Eros says artists will retain creative control.
Explained simply
Eros is an Indian entertainment company known for producing and distributing films. Visual effects use digital techniques to create or alter what appears on screen, while newer AI tools can help generate images, voices and other material. Eros Imagination is intended to bring these forms of work together with film-making and interactive projects.
Remington Scott is a visual effects specialist whose past work includes the digital character Gollum in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and digital humans in Spider-Man 2. The new unit is intended to work on Eros productions and take on projects for other entertainment companies, across films, games and live events.
One proposed project would create an immersive music experience drawing on an agreement with the family of singer Mohammed Rafi; it depends on rights and creative approvals. The venture raises questions about how established performers’ work and likenesses can be used with AI, and how artists retain control as stories reach audiences in different formats.
