Explained simply
3121 was Prince’s 2006 studio album, released during a return to wide public attention. It became his first album to debut at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Prince was a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and NPG Records was the label associated with his New Power Generation band and later releases. The Prince Estate manages his musical legacy and oversees releases from his archives, including recordings that were not issued during his lifetime.
The anniversary releases draw on both the finished album and material from Prince’s archives, as well as a 2007 Las Vegas performance. Together, they offer different ways to revisit the music and live performances from that period.
