Sam Burton Lets the Songs Happen on ‘Fairweather Friend’

Sam Burton’s third solo album, *Fairweather Friend*, is out on 30 October and marks his first release for Captured Tracks. Its warm, easy-going folk and pop sound draws on classic songwriters while reflecting Burton’s live playing and the musicians around him.

Burton wrote nearly half the record while working on a farm in Northern California, and set out to capture his solo performances and guitar playing. Recorded live, the album combines sessions with producer Jonathan Wilson and tracks Burton and his band produced themselves. Burton said “Tomorrow Takes A Dream” was inspired by Disney’s *Robin Hood*, while the title track went through repeated recordings and changes to its key and guitar parts.
