New Switch 2 Consoles Quietly Hide A Perfect ‘Zelda’ Homage

Nintendo’s Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 collection includes a small pixel-art tribute hidden beneath the console’s dock cover. The detail depicts Link and Zelda raising pieces of the Triforce, adding another franchise reference to hardware that has attracted strong demand.

The image includes 16 heart containers, matching the health limit in the original NES game. Other nods include a retro Link on the back of the Switch 2 Pro Controller and Zelda pixel art on the carrying case’s microfiber cloth. The console launched on 29 October, but retailers reportedly oversold some launch-day stock and pre-orders have continued to sell out.
