Rumour: Alleged Persona 1 Remake Gameplay Leaks Online
Footage claiming to show a remake of Persona 1 has appeared online, but its authenticity is unconfirmed. The video’s apparent quality and animations resembling those in Persona 4 Revival have led some to think it may be genuine, while the possibility of AI-generated content means caution is warranted.
The footage reportedly shows combat with Persona 1 characters and Persona 2 protagonist Tatsuya Suou, whose appearance could be a placeholder. Atlus producer Kazuhisa Wada has said remakes of the first two games are projects the studio should eventually undertake. Persona 4 Revival is due on 17 February, so even if the leak is real, the remake is unlikely to arrive in the same year.
In short
- Alleged Persona 1 remake footage has surfaced online.
- Its authenticity remains uncertain, including because of AI-generated content.
- Atlus has previously discussed remaking Persona 1 and 2.

The case for
The footage’s apparent visual quality and animations resembling Persona 4 Revival could suggest it comes from a genuine Atlus project. The inclusion of Persona 1 characters and Persona 2’s Tatsuya Suou may also fit the studio’s stated interest in eventually remaking the first two games, though his appearance could be a placeholder.
The case against
The footage’s authenticity has not been confirmed, and convincing visuals can be produced with AI or other fan-made techniques. Similarities to Persona 4 Revival and familiar characters do not establish that Atlus made it, so treating the clip as evidence of an announced or imminent remake would be premature.
Explained simply
Persona is a role-playing game series made by the Japanese studio Atlus. Its first two games, Persona and Persona 2, came before the better-known later entries and feature different characters and stories; Tatsuya Suou is the central character of Persona 2: Innocent Sin.
A remake would rebuild an older game for modern platforms, potentially changing its graphics and combat while retaining its story and characters. Atlus has discussed remaking the early games as something the studio should eventually do, but that does not confirm a particular project. Persona 4 Revival is another series title, with a release date already announced, so any further remake would be a separate project.
