The long(er) farewell: Rod Stewart adds new dates to final UK tour in 2027
Rod Stewart has added a third London date and a third Glasgow date to his planned 2027 farewell tour, after earlier shows sold out. The extra concerts reflect strong ticket demand as the 81-year-old prepares to end more than six decades on the road.
The London show is set for 15 May at The O2, while the Glasgow date is 18 May at the OVO Hydro, following earlier Glasgow performances on 29 April and 1 May. New tickets go on general sale on 6 November at 10am local time. The tour follows health setbacks that led Stewart to cancel Las Vegas residency dates and his North American tour, as well as undergo a heart procedure.
In short
- Rod Stewart adds London and Glasgow dates to his 2027 farewell tour.
- The new shows are scheduled for 15 and 18 May.
- Tickets go on general sale on 6 November.
Steelman: both sides, in good faith
The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.
The case for
Adding dates gives more fans a chance to see Stewart perform, responds to demonstrated demand and may let him bring a long career on the road to a satisfying close. Supporters may also see the concerts as Stewart’s choice to continue working, provided he feels well enough and the schedule is manageable.
The case against
After health setbacks and cancelled performances, announcing more dates could raise reasonable concerns about the strain of touring and whether expectations might outpace Stewart’s capacity to perform. Those wary of the expansion may also feel that a farewell tour should offer a clear, considered ending rather than keep growing in response to ticket demand.
Explained simply
Rod Stewart is a British singer whose career spans more than six decades, with hits including “Maggie May” and “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”. He has performed live around the world for much of that time.
A farewell tour is a series of concerts presented as a performer’s final run of shows, though it does not necessarily mean they will stop making music. Stewart’s planned UK dates follow health problems and cancelled performances, giving the tour added significance for fans who have followed his live career.
