Why Is Donald Trump Suddenly Obsessed With Men’s Bodies, Especially Their Butts?
The article examines Donald Trump’s repeated comments about the physiques of men in politics and the military, particularly his remarks about Senator Jon Husted’s backside. Trump has described studying Husted’s body and praised his buttocks as “a pile of muscle”; the story considers what these unusual comments may mean without claiming to know his motives.
The piece reports that Trump made the remarks at campaign appearances in October, while Husted was polling slightly behind in an election. It quotes adult filmmaker John Stagliano, known as Buttman, who says Trump’s comments could suggest some attraction to men but argues that speculation about his sexuality is not especially useful. Stagliano says he is more concerned with Trump’s politics and suggests ageing can reduce inhibitions, while stressing that he cannot speak for the president.
In short
- Trump has repeatedly praised men’s physiques in public.
- Senator Jon Husted’s backside has drawn particular attention.
- John Stagliano cautions against treating speculation as meaningful.
Explained simply
Donald Trump is a Republican politician who has served as US president. Jon Husted is a Republican senator from Ohio, a state in the American Midwest, and was campaigning for election when Trump spoke about his appearance.
US politicians often campaign alongside members of their party, and their public comments can attract attention as well as support. Remarks about another politician’s body are unusual, but they do not by themselves establish anything about the speaker’s private feelings or sexuality.
The comments have prompted speculation about what they might mean, though the people quoted in the article cannot know Trump’s motives. The episode also raises a broader question about how voters and the media interpret politicians’ personal remarks alongside their public record and policies.
