‘It Follows’ Star Officially Addresses Her Return to Another Iconic 2010s Thriller Franchise
Maika Monroe has said she would like to work with director Adam Wingard again, leaving open the possibility of her returning to the world of The Guest. She did not appear in Onslaught, a new film set in the same continuity, but says she and Wingard recently met for coffee and “we'll see” about working together.
The 2014 thriller follows David, played by Dan Stevens, as he joins the Peterson family after claiming to have known their son, who died serving in Afghanistan. Onslaught reunites Wingard and writer Simon Barrett and is part of their shared “KPG-verse”; Wingard has suggested Stevens’s Onslaught character may connect to the origins of David. Stevens says a Guest 2 is not currently confirmed, though he is open to more stories in the universe.
In short
- Maika Monroe is open to working with Adam Wingard again.
- She did not appear in the shared-universe film Onslaught.
- A direct sequel to The Guest is not confirmed.
Explained simply
The Guest is a 2014 thriller directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett. Dan Stevens plays David, a stranger who arrives at the home of the Peterson family and says he served with their son, who died in Afghanistan. Maika Monroe plays their daughter, Anna.
Wingard and Barrett later made Onslaught, which shares a fictional continuity with The Guest. Stevens appears in the new film as a different character, and Wingard has suggested that role may be linked to David’s origins. A direct sequel to The Guest has not been confirmed, so any further return to its story remains uncertain.
