Rybakina, Gauff drawn together at WTA Finals, Sabalenka faces Andreeva
Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff have been drawn in the same group for the WTA Finals, setting up a meeting between the defending champion and the American. Aryna Sabalenka, who lost the world number one ranking to Rybakina, will face third-ranked Mirra Andreeva in the other group.
Rybakina’s group also includes Jessica Pegula and Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova, who is making her debut; Sabalenka’s group includes Elina Svitolina and Karolina Muchova. The eight-player tournament runs from 8 to 15 November at Indian Wells, with the top two from each round-robin group reaching the semi-finals. Rybakina said being world number one brings pressure as well as motivation, while Sabalenka will be seeking a strong finish after winning Indian Wells and Miami earlier this year.

Explained simply
The WTA Finals is the season-ending tournament for the leading women’s tennis players. Eight players qualify, then compete in two groups, with each player facing the others in her group; the top two in each group advance to the semi-finals.
Elena Rybakina is the defending champion, and Aryna Sabalenka is a former world number one. Coco Gauff is among the leading American players, while Mirra Andreeva is a younger competitor who has risen into the world’s top ranks.
The draw brings together players with different records and recent seasons, and the group matches help determine who reaches the knockout rounds. The event is one of the final major tests of the year for the players who qualify.
