UK’s Creative Cities Convention Reveals 2027 Location
The Creative Cities Convention (CCC) will be held in Glasgow in 2027, as the TV Festival moves away from Scotland after 50 years. The event will bring UK screen and media professionals together to discuss who is buying British content as commissioners reduce their purchases.
The convention has expanded to two days and will take place at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on 19 and 20 May. Mobeen Azhar will return as host, Kirsty Wark will be a guest interviewer, and Jameel Shariff will host the Creative Skills Summit for its third year. The CCC was due to visit Glasgow in 2020 but was cancelled during the pandemic.
In short
- Glasgow will host the CCC on 19 and 20 May 2027.
- The convention has grown to two full days.
- Sessions will examine who is buying British content.
Explained simply
The Creative Cities Convention is a UK gathering for people working in television, film and other screen and media industries. It provides a forum to discuss changes in the sector and how they affect the people who make and distribute content.
Broadcasters and streaming services commission programmes and decide what to buy, shaping which stories reach audiences and how production work is funded. When commissioners buy less, it can affect companies and jobs across the industry, including outside London.
The convention has previously been scheduled for Glasgow, but its 2020 visit was cancelled during the pandemic. Glasgow has a long-standing connection to UK television through the TV Festival, which has been based in Scotland for five decades.
