Ukrainian Drone Attack Sparks Fire at Ozon Warehouse in Adygea
A Ukrainian drone attack started a fire at Ozon’s distribution centre in Adygeysk, in Russia’s Adygea region. The incident disrupted operations at a major logistics hub serving southern Russia, while officials reported no injuries.
Ozon said all workers were evacuated and emergency services were at the scene. The centre, opened in 2023, employs more than 1,500 people; Ozon removed damaged goods from sale, cancelled affected deliveries and redirected incoming shipments. Regional head Marat Kumpilov said debris also damaged a gas pipeline in another village, with no injuries reported. Russia’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted 709 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea from Tuesday night to Friday morning.
In short
- A drone attack sparked a fire at Ozon’s Adygeysk distribution centre.
- More than 1,500 people work at the logistics hub.
- Ozon rerouted deliveries; no injuries were reported.
Explained simply
Ozon is one of Russia’s major online retailers. Its distribution centres store and sort goods before sending orders to customers, so disruption at a large centre can affect deliveries across a wider area.
Adygea is a Russian region in the south of the country, near the Black Sea. Russia’s war with Ukraine has brought drone attacks to areas far from the front line, while Russian officials say air defences intercept many of them.
The reported damage also highlights how attacks can affect local infrastructure as well as businesses. A damaged gas pipeline may require repairs even when no one is hurt, and diverted shipments or cancelled orders can disrupt trade and everyday deliveries.
