Titan OS raises $46 million to expand its smart TV OS internationally
Barcelona-based Titan OS has raised $46 million in equity and debt to grow its smart TV operating system business internationally. The funding will help it pursue new partnerships and markets as TV makers seek ways to earn revenue beyond hardware sales.
The funding includes debt facilities managed by BlackRock and investment from existing backers Highland Europe and Mangrove Capital Partners, bringing Titan OS’s total raised to $110 million. It says its platform now serves 30 million users, up from 18 million last year, and has added Sharp, AOC, Vestel and Skyworth as partners; Philips is using Titan OS in its 2026 models instead of Google TV. The company plans to improve content discovery and advertising tools, including with AI.
In short
- Titan OS raised $46 million to fund international expansion.
- Its platform now serves 30 million users.
- Philips chose Titan OS for its 2026 models.
Steelman: both sides, in good faith
The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.
The case for
Titan OS’s expansion could give television makers more control over their software and a way to earn revenue after a set is sold, while offering viewers improved content discovery. New partnerships and investment may help it compete internationally and broaden the range of platforms available to manufacturers and consumers.
The case against
A rapid international expansion could be costly, and Titan OS will need to show that its user growth translates into a durable business and a useful experience for viewers. Greater reliance on advertising, including AI-driven tools, may raise concerns about privacy, content recommendations and whether commercial priorities will shape what people see.
