How Gram Parsons Tribute Starring Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello & The Black Crowes Came Together
Gram Parsons will be celebrated at a sold-out tribute concert at Los Angeles’ Troubadour on 11 November, ahead of his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The event brings together artists influenced by his work, marking both the induction and what would have been his 80th birthday.
Emmylou Harris, who sang on Parsons’ two solo albums, will headline, with Elvis Costello, The Black Crowes and other performers also appearing. The Rock Hall and Parsons’ estate combined plans for a birthday tribute with the induction celebration; organisers chose the Troubadour for its connection to his Los Angeles career. Parsons helped bring country music’s emotional style into rock through his work with The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers and as a solo artist.
