Iron Maiden launch Somewhere In Time graphic novel
Iron Maiden have teamed up with publisher Z2 on a graphic novel marking the 40th anniversary of their 1986 album *Somewhere In Time*. The book expands on the album’s science-fiction imagery and its iconic cover, which guitarist Adrian Smith describes as a powerful depiction of the band’s mascot, Eddie.
*Somewhere In Time: The Graphic Album* is due on 2 March 2027 and will feature eight stories inspired by the album’s eight tracks, alongside a prologue, an epilogue and an interview with Smith about making the record. A signed platinum edition will include 7-inch vinyl editions of the 1986 singles “Wasted Years” and “Stranger In A Strange Land”; pre-orders are open. Z2 previously worked with Iron Maiden on a *Piece Of Mind* graphic novel and with frontman Bruce Dickinson on *The Mandrake Project* comic set.

Explained simply
Iron Maiden are a British heavy metal band formed in 1975, known for albums built around vivid stories and imagery. Their mascot, Eddie, appears on many album covers and has become one of the band’s most recognisable symbols.
Released in 1986, Somewhere In Time was the band’s sixth studio album. Its science-fiction-themed cover and songs, including “Wasted Years” and “Stranger In A Strange Land”, provide the material for the new book’s stories.
Z2 is a publisher that makes graphic novels linked to music and popular culture. Its earlier projects with Iron Maiden and singer Bruce Dickinson place this book within an existing series of collaborations between the band and the publisher.
