God of War Laufey Hit With Big Delay
Sony Santa Monica has delayed God of War Laufey, moving the PlayStation 5 game from its planned February release to 20 May 2027. The studio said it needs the extra time to add finishing touches and bring the game to its full potential.
The spinoff stars Deborah Ann Woll as Faye, Kratos’s wife, whose story unfolds alongside the events of the 2018 game and its sequel. Set in the gods’ afterlife, the Everywhen, Faye seeks to help Kratos and their son Atreus; the game is described as action-focused, with more acrobatic combat. Jack Quaid, Perlina Lau and Christopher Judge also feature.

Explained simply
God of War is a PlayStation game series about Kratos, a warrior who encounters figures from Greek and Norse mythology. In the Norse games, his son Atreus is central to the story, and Faye is Kratos’s wife and Atreus’s mother.
Laufey is a spinoff focused on Faye, set around the events of the 2018 game and its sequel. It takes place in the Everywhen, a realm of the gods’ dead, and is described as an action game with more acrobatic fighting. Its story adds to the family’s history and the wider God of War world.
