Rimworld-inspired colony sim Stardeus gets a huge update representing a year’s worth of expansion and revision, with new tools for evil AI overlords
Stardeus, an early access colony simulation in which players manage a damaged spaceship as an AI, has received a major update after a year of development. It adds new systems and options, including the ability to control the crew with beta waves as an evil AI, and points towards a planned 1.0 release.
The update brings more than 1,500 changes, including quests, a tutorial, alliances with other factions, a trust system affecting mutiny risk and revised colonist skills. It also reworks ground combat around cover and suppression, and space battles around Flux generated by weapons fire and shield damage; failed surgery can now leave colonists with lifelong injuries. The developer says few game systems escaped rebuilding or expansion, with version 1.0 expected around the first quarter of 2027.
In short
- Stardeus has received a year-in-the-making update.
- More than 1,500 changes reshape its systems.
- Version 1.0 is expected around Q1 2027.
Explained simply
Stardeus is an early access game in which players guide a damaged spaceship and its crew by acting as an artificial intelligence. Colony simulations centre on managing people and resources while responding to problems, and Stardeus places those decisions aboard a ship travelling through space.
The crew’s trust can affect the risk of mutiny, while alliances and quests bring other factions into the game. Players also manage skills, medical treatment and combat, so choices can shape both the ship’s survival and the crew’s condition. The developer is working towards a full 1.0 release, which would mark the game’s move out of early access.
