AI-assisted TVPort brings Switch games natively to Apple TV 4K
A Reddit user has released TVPort, an open-source project that uses AI-assisted work to recompile Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games so they can run natively on Apple TV 4K. The project highlights the set-top box’s gaming potential, while also adding to debate over AI-assisted game porting and decompilation.
TVPort is a fork of the nxnative toolkit and requires a Mac; it does not include game files. Its creator says Super Mario Odyssey runs at 60 frames per second with occasional stutters and some audio problems, while Animal Crossing: New Horizons is limited to 30. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has thermal throttling issues and may be too demanding for the third-generation Apple TV 4K.
In short
- TVPort aims to run Switch games natively on Apple TV 4K.
- Super Mario Odyssey reportedly reaches 60 frames per second.
- Tears of the Kingdom may be too demanding for the device.
