Resurgent Box Office Drives AMC Theatres’ Record Q3: CEO Says Chain Has Finally Recovered
AMC Entertainment reported a record third quarter, returning to profit as cinema revenues rose, and chief executive Adam Aron said the chain had recovered from the damage caused by Covid. The results matter because they mark a sharp reversal for a heavily indebted company that had faced years of bankruptcy concerns.
For the three months to September, AMC made $109.3 million, compared with a $298.2 million loss a year earlier, while revenue climbed 31% to $1.7 billion. It refinanced $3.97 billion of debt, covering about 97% of its borrowings and extending maturities to 2031 and 2033; Aron also forecast positive cash flow for 2026 and said October’s US box office was up about 35% year on year.
In short
- AMC made $109.3 million in the third quarter.
- Revenue rose 31% to a record $1.7 billion.
- Aron said AMC expects positive cash flow in 2026.
