Dune 3 star Timothée Chalamet says he’s “absolutely” satisfied with the final film’s ending
Timothée Chalamet says he is satisfied with the ending of the third and final film in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trilogy. He described the film as “its own thing”, saying Villeneuve had changed the bar rather than let the standard drop.
Set about 19 years after Paul takes control of the Imperium, the film follows him as emperor facing the consequences of his rule. Robert Pattinson plays a genetically engineered shapeshifter involved in efforts to bring him down; Zendaya, Florence Pugh and other returning cast members also feature. Dune 3 is due in cinemas on 18 December, the same day as Avengers: Doomsday.

Explained simply
Dune is a science-fiction story set in a distant future where powerful families and groups compete for control of planets and resources. Its central character, Paul Atreides, gains power over the Imperium, a vast political realm, and the story explores the effects of his rise.
The third film continues Paul’s story years into his rule, with returning characters including Chani, played by Zendaya, and Princess Irulan, played by Florence Pugh. Robert Pattinson joins the cast as a genetically engineered shapeshifter caught up in efforts to remove Paul from power.
The trilogy is directed by Denis Villeneuve and is based on novels by Frank Herbert. Its conclusion brings together questions of leadership, loyalty and the consequences of political power.
