Ecca Vandal Wins 2026 Australian Music Prize
Ecca Vandal has won the 22nd Australian Music Prize for her second album, *Looking for People to Unfollow*. The award recognises artistic merit rather than sales and comes with a A$50,000 prize, marking a major achievement in a breakout year for the Melbourne-based artist.
A music industry panel selected the album from a nine-record shortlist that included releases by Genesis Owusu, Grace Cummings, Julia Jacklin and Karnivool. Vandal has also played Coachella, made her US television debut on *Jimmy Kimmel Live* and received seven nominations for the 2026 ARIA Awards. The AMP began in 2005 and has previously recognised artists including The Avalanches, Courtney Barnett and last year’s winner, Ninajirachi.
