Amazon adds Uber Eats ordering for US Prime members
Amazon and Uber have made Uber Eats the official restaurant delivery partner for Prime members in the US, bringing restaurant orders into Amazon’s app and website. The arrangement gives Uber access to Amazon’s large Prime customer base and returns Amazon to restaurant delivery through a partner rather than its own service.
Prime members can get free delivery on restaurant orders of at least $25, using their Amazon account and payment methods without creating an Uber account. Amazon manages ordering and delivery alerts, while Uber sends the receipt. The companies say members could save more than $175 a year, though customers still pay service charges, local fees, tips and possible menu mark-ups; the $25 minimum may also limit savings for smaller orders.
In short
- Uber Eats becomes Amazon Prime’s official US restaurant delivery partner.
- Free delivery applies to orders of $25 or more.
- Fees and tips still add to the bill.
