Nintendo’s Inventory Levels At A Record High As RAM Crisis Continues
Nintendo reported a record 814.57 billion yen (£3.8 billion) in inventory at the end of September, as it builds supplies to manage rising costs and shortages of memory components. The increase matters because manufacturers across the technology industry are facing tighter RAM supplies, which could push hardware prices higher.
Inventory rose from 539.8 billion yen in the previous quarter, with the report describing an increase of about 197 billion yen over three months. Nintendo has already raised Switch 2 prices, and its later launch than the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S may give it more room to prepare stock; research and development spending also rose 16.8% to 96.2 billion yen, prompting speculation about future hardware, though no revised model has been announced.
In short
- Nintendo’s inventory reached a record 814.57 billion yen.
- The stock build comes amid rising memory costs and shortages.
- Research and development spending rose 16.8% this quarter.
