42 bodies recovered from rubble after Russian strike on Komyshuvakha as search continues, police say
Ukrainian police say 42 bodies have been recovered after Russian forces struck Komyshuvakha, a front-line village in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, on 2 November. A further 33 people were missing as of 5 November, and the final death toll had not been confirmed; the attack is already among the deadliest single Russian strikes since the full-scale invasion began.
The village was hit several times by aerial bombs, including a 3-tonne FAB-3000, as residents gathered at a school to receive weekly humanitarian aid. President Volodymyr Zelensky said nine more bombs were dropped on a shelter, while Ukraine’s emergency service reported that rescuers took cover as further strikes hit the site. Two 44-year-old rescue workers were among the dead; the attack destroyed a gymnasium, an outbuilding and a fire engine, and damaged the school.
