In-form Fuellkrug back in Germany squad after goal rush
Niclas Füllkrug has returned to Germany’s squad for this month’s Nations League matches after a prolific start to the Bundesliga season. His nine goals in Werder Bremen’s first eight matches have put him at the top of the league’s scoring chart and earned him his first Germany call-up in more than a year.
Germany coach Jürgen Klopp had recently suggested Füllkrug might be overlooked because of his age, but included the 33-year-old alongside 17-year-old midfielder Wael Mohya. Germany face Serbia in Belgrade on 13 November and the Netherlands in Berlin three days later; they are third in Group A2 with five points from four games, behind the Netherlands and Greece on eight.
In short
- Füllkrug has scored nine goals in eight Bundesliga matches.
