Zelda: Ocarina Of Time’s Director Was Chosen For His Ability To “Solve Problems Very Aggressively”

Nintendo chose HokWai Ng to direct the Switch 2 version of *The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time* because of his proactive approach to solving problems. The appointment highlights how Nintendo is giving a younger developer responsibility for a major Zelda project.

In an interview, producer Eiji Aonuma said Ng stood out while working on *Tears of the Kingdom*, where he addressed problems “very aggressively, very proactively”. Aonuma also felt Ng’s ideas for future projects made him a good fit to lead the remake. Ng previously worked on *Wii Fit Plus* before joining the planning team for *Tears of the Kingdom*.
