Grimes Joins AI-Generated Sci-Fi Film Gods Don’t Give Gifts

Grimes has joined the cast of *Gods Don’t Give Gifts*, an AI-generated animated science-fiction film directed by Zack London, also known as Gossip Goblin. She voices Zayinth Alda, a disaffected aristocrat in a transhumanist future; the character was rewritten for her and designed with her input, using both her voice and likeness.

The film brings together four connected stories in a world where consciousness can move between bodies and memories can be bought and sold. Its makers say it combines AI-generated imagery with human writers, performers, musicians and post-production staff, and are testing whether an AI-made feature can reach cinemas and awards consideration. The film is due in US theatres on 4 December, its trailer has reportedly gained about 16 million views, and it is being submitted for BAFTA and Golden Globe consideration as well as campaigning for an animated feature award.
