NBC’s ‘Rockford Files’ Remake Sets Premiere Date — and Jim Rockford Wants You to Call Him
NBC has set 2 January for the premiere of its remake of *The Rockford Files*, using a late-season NFL game to lead viewers into the launch. The Saturday debut is an unusual slot for a high-profile drama, but the series will move to its regular Thursday time from 7 January.
David Boreanaz plays private investigator Jim Rockford, alongside Michaela McManus, Ilfenesh Hadera and Jacki Weaver. NBC’s promotional advert invites viewers to call (760) JIM-ROCK, where a voicemail from Rockford says he is back; callers can also opt in to receive text messages about the show. The original series, starring James Garner, ran from 1974 to 1980.
