Theory Of A Deadman’s new record may be called Funeral Songs, but they’re far from finished
Theory Of A Deadman have released *Part 1: Funeral Songs*, an EP shaped by the band’s preference for choosing quality songs over filling a full-length album. Frontman Tyler Connolly says the group sees less value in releasing an album every few years, arguing that writing a dozen strong songs in a short period is difficult.
Connolly says he judges songs by whether he can still connect with fans, and describes the title track as a cathartic song about someone who is still alive. He also discusses the band’s communication, his decision to avoid solo projects, and how ageing informed the recent single “Winnebago (Lay Low)”. The band has released eight albums and plans to tour Europe in February 2027 and Canada in March.
In short
- Theory Of A Deadman’s new EP prioritises quality over a full album.
- Tyler Connolly says the title track concerns a living person.
- The band plans European and Canadian tours in 2027.
