More Peter Mandelson files will be released before Christmas as police continue probe into his links with Jeffrey Epstein
More documents about Peter Mandelsonâs appointment as UK ambassador to the US are due to be published before Parliamentâs Christmas recess on 17 December. The Cabinet Office says the Metropolitan Police has assessed that some files can now be released without harming its investigation into allegations that Mandelson passed market-sensitive government information to Jeffrey Epstein.
The documents will be reviewed for material that could affect national security or international relations, and Parliamentâs Intelligence and Security Committee will see unredacted versions before publication. Some files will remain withheld at police request until their release poses no risk to the investigation or any later legal process. Mandelson was sacked as ambassador in September 2025 after emails emerged showing supportive messages to Epstein.
In short
- Further Mandelson appointment files are expected before 17 December.
