Horror as paedo UK maths teacher pretends to be teenage boy before raping young girls
Former secondary-school maths teacher Syed Shahreear Ahmed has received a further 10 years in prison after being convicted of 37 additional sexual offences against 12 teenage girls. The case shows how he used false online identities to gain the girls’ trust, groom them and, in some cases, arrange meetings where he sexually assaulted or raped them.
Ahmed, 38, was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on 5 November to 13 years, including 10 years in custody and an extended licence period of three years. His new convictions include seven rapes, six sexual assaults and offences involving sexual communications with children and indecent images; all 12 victims were under 18, and some were 14. He is already serving a 20-year sentence imposed in September 2025, and further evidence was found when police examined his phones after additional allegations emerged.
