Weta FX CEO Daniel Seah Unpacks TAICCA Partnership: “Taiwan Has Creative Talent, Technology & Government Support”
Weta FX is partnering with Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) to build a base for expanding into East Asia and to support Taiwan’s film and television industries. CEO Daniel Seah said Taiwan’s creative and engineering talent, technology sector, government backing and location make it a strong fit, as international studios and streaming services show greater interest in Asian content.
The partnership includes an investment in Taiwanese visual effects company Moonshine Studio, joint work on AI technology and training, and investment in Taiwanese content and talent across production and post-production. The size of the government commitment has not been disclosed; TAICCA described the alliance as one of its biggest in the content sector, while Taiwan’s National Development Fund is providing a second tranche of $303 million. Weta plans to offer internships, and says its AI tools are mainly intended to improve workflows and assist filmmaking rather than replace staff.
