Long-suffering Warhammer 40K Blood Angels fans get thrown one single, solitary bone
Games Workshop has announced that a new Codex: Blood Angels and new miniatures are due in spring 2027, raising hopes that the often-overlooked faction will receive a substantial range of releases. The announcement has revealed one model so far: the returning Sanguinary High Priest Corbulo.
The number of additional miniatures is unknown, so the launch could still be limited. Blood Angels featured prominently in the current 11th Edition and appeared in the Armageddon box, but fans have recently had few bespoke models and the upcoming Christmas Battleforce has been criticised as a weak offering. Spring releases are also expected for Xenos, Chaos and non-Space Marine Imperial armies.
In short
- Blood Angels get a new codex in spring 2027.
- New miniatures are promised, but the number is unknown.
- Corbulo is the first model revealed.
Steelman: both sides, in good faith
The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.
The case for
A new Codex and Corbulo model give Blood Angels fans reason to hope for renewed attention after a long period with few bespoke releases. The faction’s prominence in the current edition and place in the Armageddon box could signal that Games Workshop plans a broader refresh, with more models to be revealed before spring 2027.
The case against
Only one miniature has been announced, and the number of additional releases remains unknown, so expectations of a substantial range may prove premature. Recent limited support and criticism of the Christmas Battleforce give fans grounds to question whether this launch will address their concerns, especially as other factions are also due spring releases.
