Comcast Co-Founder Julian Brodsky Dies at 93
Julian Brodsky, a co-founder of Comcast and a key figure in cable television finance, has died aged 93. His work helped turn the company from a small regional operator into a major media and technology business, while promoting cable as a credible long-term investment.
Brodsky joined Ralph J. Roberts and Daniel Aaron in 1963, beginning with the purchase of a small cable system in Tupelo, Mississippi. As Comcast’s longtime chief financial officer, he helped finance its expansion and 1972 public offering, later serving as non-executive vice-chairman before retiring in 2011. He and his wife Lois, married for 70 years, supported Philadelphia cultural and educational institutions, including a $20 million gift announced in October 2026 for a learning centre at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
