‘Musk’ Doc Gets International Release Dates After Questions About Overseas Rollout
Universal has announced international cinema dates for Alex Gibney’s documentary “Musk”, following uncertainty about whether it would be released outside the United States. The rollout matters because the film has faced legal threats from Elon Musk, and Gibney said the studio had wavered over its overseas plans.
The 3-hour-45-minute film opens in the U.K. on 15 January, followed by Germany on 21 January, Spain on 5 February, France on 17 February and Australia on 25 February; further dates are expected. It was released theatrically in the U.S. in October and explores Musk’s political shift, business controversies and personal relationships. Musk has called it a “hit piece” and criticised Gibney, while the documentary continues its festival screenings.
In short
- Universal has set international cinema dates for “Musk”.
