Kobo launches paid cloud ebook syncing service with a 90-day UK trial
Kobo is launching Stack, a paid cloud service that stores readers’ own ebooks and documents and syncs them, along with reading progress and notes, across Kobo devices and apps. The service matters to readers who want their personal files available across devices, but unlike Amazon’s free Send to Kindle feature, Kobo charges a monthly fee.
Stack supports EPUB and PDF files up to 200MB, uploaded through Kobo’s website or by email, and is rolling out in six countries, including the UK. UK access costs £2.99 a month, with a 90-day free trial; after cancellation, users have 60 days to retrieve files and export notes before they are permanently deleted. The beta Kobo 6.0 update also adds multiple Libby library cards, accessibility and stylus improvements, and support for LCP-protected EPUBs.
In short
- Kobo Stack syncs personal ebooks, documents and reading notes across devices.
- UK pricing is £2.99 monthly, with a 90-day free trial.
- Cancelled files and notes must be backed up within 60 days.
