Leonardo Aguilar Leaves Behind Family Controversies & Releases ‘Esquina 22’: ‘There Are Things That Are Not in My Hands to Resolve’
Leonardo Aguilar says criticism of his famous family made him hesitate to release music and put his career on hold, but he now wants to focus on what he can control: his music. His fourth solo album, *Esquina 22*, marks a renewed step in his career and draws on his life in Tayahua, Zacatecas.
Released on 5 November, the 10-track album pairs new songs with ranchera classics including “Las Rejas No Matan”, “A Pesar de Todo” and “Acepto Mi Derrota”. It also features “Canción de Rancho”, a collaboration with El Komander, and takes its name from a street near the family ranch. Producer Alfonso De La Cruz Pekas worked on the record, which Aguilar describes as diverse and honest.
