Three California bakeries ranked 12 best in the world

Three California bakeries have placed among the world’s 12 best in Beli’s 2026 ranking, putting them alongside leading bakeries from Europe and Asia. Their success highlights California’s standing in an international food scene where European bakeries have traditionally dominated.

San Francisco’s Arsicault Bakery ranked third, Santa Monica’s Petitgrain Boulangerie sixth and San Francisco’s Butter & Crumble seventh. Beli says the ranking draws on 140 million ratings from its app users; Copenhagen’s Juno the Bakery took first place. The California bakeries are known respectively for flaky croissants, a range of breads and pastries, and inventive seasonal creations.
