Danny McBride’s ‘G.I. Joe’ Movie Lands 2028 Release from Paramount
Paramount has set 20 October 2028 for its next G.I. Joe film, a reimagining directed by Danny McBride. Bradley Cooper will star as Duke, with McBride writing the script alongside Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri. The project aims to give the long-running franchise a fresh direction after its earlier films struggled to win over critics and audiences.
G.I. Joe has been popular for decades through toys and 1980s cartoons, but its latest film, Snake Eyes, took about $40 million in 2021 amid the pandemic recovery. The earlier films, released in 2009 and 2013, were moderate earners but received poor reviews. Paramount also moved its Paranormal Activity reboot from May to 22 October 2027; the franchise has made more than $900 million worldwide.
