MJ Lenderman Shares New Neil Young Cover, Harry Crews Book Foreword

MJ Lenderman has released a cover of Neil Young’s “Separate Ways” and written a foreword for a new Penguin Classics edition of Harry Crews’ novel *Body*. The releases show the Asheville singer-songwriter’s engagement with both Young’s music and Crews’ fiction, while offering new work as fans await a follow-up to *Manning Fireworks*.

The cover appears on *Heart Of Gold: The Songs Of Neil Young, Vol. 3 – Into The Black*, one of two new volumes in the tribute series released today. “Separate Ways” originally appeared on Young’s 2020 album *Homegrown*; Lenderman has also performed other Young songs live. The *Body* edition is due next week, and Lenderman’s foreword is available online.
